Our Christmas Tree

Happy Monday All ! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was great. We went to the big Apple NYC ! I will make another post about that.

Decorations are very common during this time of year. I think we can all agree that our favorite is the Christmas tree. It's festive and the star on top reminds us of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born.

When I was growing up. I can't remember my family ever having a Christmas tree. Not even a Charlie Brown tree. Why....because we couldn't afford it. Christmas trees were a luxury in my country back then, much less any other decoration. But we still celebrated the true meaning of Christmas. It is not about decorations or trees. It is about Jesus being born in a manger on a mission to save us from our sin. We celebrate "the Savior is born". John 3:16

Since, now, I can afford to have my very own Christmas tree, I love to decorate it with something very meaningful ornaments to us. We don't use a color theme, except for the ribbon around, so I think the tree decorations will be the same every year. All the ornament will be the same year after year, because each ornament we hang on the tree has sentimental value to us.

We met in 2007 so this Lenox bell is very special.

My husband's favorite football team Redskin all the way :).

The first ornament we bought together snoopy is always a favorite.

The cutest little bird you will ever see. We chose this together.

This box tree ornament hand made by one of our church member who is disabled.

I hope you have fun and have a special way to decorate your tree !!!

Candy Cane Vase ( Affordable gift )

I did this candy cane vase last year as a gift to friends and just filled it with green and a bunch of roses. And they just loved it.

This weekend our church secretary asked me to make one for the speaker's wife at our church Christmas banquet.

I made one gladly. This project is really easy and affordable, yet it is very festive for this Christmas season. Who doesn't like flowers unless you have allergic to them, of course. I couldn't imagine people going through life with this problem. Having fresh flowers in my house always gives me a happy feeling. I told my husband the other day "God must know what makes women happy to create so many different kinds of flowers."

Back to my project. All you need is candy canes, a mason or sauce jar in my case :) hot glue, green and flowers ( I use roses ). You can use whatever flower is on sale at your grocery store.

Glue the candy canes around the jar until full and no empty spaces.

Roses from the grocery store and green from your yard or if you don't have one, just ask friends :)

Final touch... wrap the ribbon around and glue it. How easy is that :)

I printed this sign with Microsoft word and just used a sign holder for flowers and here you have a beautiful gift for Christmas !!!

Total cost for this project is $ 11 ( $9.99 roses + 2 boxes candy cane .50/each last year after Christmas sale + jar free + glue and ribbon already have )

Christmas Wreath ( Not meant to be )

Happy Monday all ! I hope you have a better weather than us. Ours it's been freezing raining since Saturday night until tomorrow. We couldn't go to church yesterday because of the icy road. But we still have our devotion at home. And had nice Sunday. We just enjoy each other, did some final touch with Christmas decoration. And made nice chilly in the crockpot for dinner.

I made this wreath just want to try out how it looks like since I have all this stars ornament from last year. Also, this ribbon hole which I got for free, leftover from my friend wedding decoration. Basically I just wrap up the ribbon around the wreath. Slip the stars inside the ribbon. Adding some this little ball ornament. I didn't even use any glue or anything just secure it with the wreath itself. The finishing touch I put this Merry Christmas sign. I hang it by the door and I kind of like it. First I wasn't so sure about it. And I asked my husband he said not bad. So, I just leave it in our front door for our Christmas wreath.

Our Weekend Blessing

Isaiah 11:1-2

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

Our Entry Way for Christmas

Hi all ! I hope you have a wonderful day ! I have been busy trying to send some Christmas card out today. Wow...where did the time go in 19 days Christmas is here.

Today, I will share our entry way to our apartment. Actually, we don't have one I just make one :)

I downloaded the subway art online and print it out at Walgreen with free coupon. I like the word of the printable. It remind me what is the reason for this season. Jesus is born to save me and you so I have the assurance of everlasting life.

Also, I put this nativity scene to keep the meaning of Christmas flowing. I don't put much on this table. I keep it simple and to focus on the meaning of Christmas. I just add this red roses and Christmas tree votive candle holder. I really love the roses. They are really a good compliment to the chalk board printable.

I hope you have a very Joyful heart preparing Christmas in your household. And keep the true meaning of Christmas with you !!

Console Table Makeover

Hi all ! I hope you had a wonderful day ! I'm sure most of you who celebrate Christmas are busy trying to decorate your house or buy gifts for your loved ones. I know that has filled my days of late. I am almost done with my Christmas decorations, and have only one more gift to buy.

I found this console table from a yard sale for $5. I was hesitant to buy the table because it was missing the glass top, but my husband convinced me to buy it. We had to purchase a custom made glass for the top because of the size. We called all over town searching for a shop who made custom glass, compared prices and finally found the cheapest one within a 20 mile radius.

I painted the table with lilac muse from Valspar, spray painted the cane pattern inside the glass and finished it with lacquer.

The end result was not bad at all. I like the fresh white paint. It makes the table look fresh and new. What a change paint can make.
