Our Thanksgiving Week

Hi all ! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving week ! Ours was wonderful !

We went to Gaither Vocal Band Homecoming. This the first time we went to their homecoming. It was wonderful. We had a great time there. I was really blessed and touch by some of their song. The building was very packed.

On thanksgiving day I was busy cooking. I made ham, mashed potato, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, and pumpkin-cheesecake. We had a great time on Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family. We have tons of leftover.

After all those great food. My husband and I went wonder to couple of store to what deals they have out there. We have been doing this going out on Thanksgiving night. We just love to see how people went crazy to get the deals. We went to Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Target.  I would say this year wasn't as crazy as last year. People might just do their shopping online or very careful with their money.

Also, we went to Premium Outlet. Oh....gosh people were fighting for parking lot. We were driving around to find one. Finally, after 15 minutes we found one. We went to Banana Republic, Gap and bought a bunch of clothes with a very good deal.

Today I was putting up my Christmas decoration and will post about it soon. I got this beautiful roses on sale for $2.27 a dozen and using them for my Christmas decoration :)

Cork Board Makeover ( Using Window Curtain )

I have this cork board just sitting by my laundry room. I got it for free from one of my shopping cart diving. It is a good big size cork board. I don't like how it look. I was thinking to do something with it. Cover it with nice pattern fabric.

I was looking for the fabric I have on hand. But I didn't see anything that I could use at least none of them I like. I was thinking just go head to fabric store. But my thrifty blood said keep looking. Finally, I look at my window curtain.....you figured what I did. Since I have another window curtain just sitting around why not just use this one. Yes....I took down that curtain.  I put the other window curtain on. And start to working on my cork board. I cover the cork with this steps.

1.Iron the fabric use starch to give the best result.

2. Cover the cork and use staple gun to secure it.

3. Now you can see the different from before much better for sure.

4. Make chevron pattern using the ribbon. And make little rossete in between the ribbon.

I'm so glad with the result. Also, I put nail heads for the trim. I hung the JOY sign on the board since Christmas is around the corner. This cork board will go to craft auction at our church benefiting missionary overseas.

Drop Leaf Table Makeover

Hello everyone ! I hope you had a great weekend !

This table is one of the project I'm working on right now before the cold weather come. My original plan was just paint the legs and stained the top with cherry or walnut. But I changed my mind. And decided to paint the whole table with white from Valspar.

I did all the steps how to paint the table. After all those steps I put stripes to give something pop up. I taped and painted it with the left over paint I have. Blue turquoise. I really glad how it turned out.

Final steps to protect the paint I put clear wax on the table. I will put this on craigslist. Hopefully someone will get it :)

Strawberry Cake

Good day everyone ! I hope you have a wonderful day ! It is starting to feel like winter already !
I made this strawberry cake for my husband birthday a couple of weeks ago. I combined a couple of recipes and made my own. And my husband love it !  I love it too. It was really very moist and the texture really different than regular cake.

Ingredients

1 regular size white cake mix
3 ounces strawberry flavored Jell-O
10 ounces frozen strawberries I didn't thaw it ( puree with 1/3 milk in the blender ) set aside 1/4 cups for the frosting
1/2 cup butter softened
4 eggs room temperature
1/3 cup sugar or 1/2 cup depends on how sweet you want it
1/3 milk

* Frosting
8 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup butter softened
1/4 confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup strawberries puree
1 pounds fresh strawberries for garnish optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray or grease 2 (9-inch) round cake pans
In a large bowl, combine cake mix and gelatin. Add pureed strawberries, eggs, butter and milk; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth.
Pour into prepared pans, and bake for 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans, and cool completely on wire racks.

Frosting :

In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Beat in 1/4 cup of the strawberry puree and vanilla. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beating until smooth.
Spread frosting in between layers and on top and sides of cake. Garnish with sliced fresh strawberries, if desired.
