Luggage Rack Makeover

Hi All !
I hope you had a great day ! Also, a great weekend !
I found this old luggage rack from one of shopping cart diving. That means I got it for FREE.

I was waiting for the right straps or better yet I paid for .50 from Goodwill Outlet to work on it. I love the embroider design also the color combo yellow and blue.

I started working on the old wood luggage rack. Started with sand paper it, clean up, and painted. After all this steps done. I measured the length of the straps. And gun staples it into the rack.

Now I can use it as a side table in my extra bedroom. Once....the old wood luggage rack become alive again. Whenever we have people to stay with a big luggage they have this rack handy and ready.

If I need more space I can just folded the rack. I really glad with result of this rack. And easy project too.

Weekend Blessing

Psalm 84 :10
Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Pottery Barn Inspired Wreath

I was looking for inspiration to make a wreath for our church craft auction. We will donate all the profit to missionaries that we support. I was looking at a Pottery Barn catalog and saw this classic beautiful wreath.
Source
They sell the big one for $79 at Pottery Barn. I wish I had the budget to spend on a wreath, or even better to donate that money to a missionary.

I decided to try make my own. I had this wreath that I found from one of my Cart Diving trips. Also, I have lots of ornaments sitting around. This wreath is very simple and easy to make. It took me about 1/2 an hour. Instead of two colors I used gold, red and green.

I simply arranged the ornament on the wreath and hot glued it. Just repeat the steps with the rest of the ornaments until you feel the wreath is full and looking good !

The end result is not bad at all and I love it. This project didn't cost me much... basically free. Because I used stuff I already have on hand. I hope someone will love it as much as I do and bid for it at the craft auction :)

How To Give With a Cheerful Heart ( Without Breaking your Bank )

Hi All !

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was very laidback and relaxing, enjoying each other company, and did some projects. On Sunday we went to Berkeley Plantation in Charles City for Thanksgiving Festival. According to history this is the First Official Thanksgiving in America.

November is here. Wow....that means Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner. Probably some of you already thinking about gifts. Make a long list. Thinking what to give for the person you love and care.

Today, I will share with you some of the gifts that we are going to give on Christmas. These gifts are for Operation Christmas Child. I'm making 5 boxes for this. I have been doing this since before I got married. Ever since I always doing it minimum 2 boxes. Start this year my husband and I made commitment to give the same number the year of our marriage.

We are doing White Elephant at our Church Christmas Celebration and I'm bringing 3 gifts. Thanksgiving dinner Auction all the profit goes to missionaries. I'm making gift basket for this and will adding some of crafts in addition.

Total 8 presents that I need to think of and all of them need to be done before December 7th. This is not counting some other gifts for families and friends. There is no obligation for all of those gifts. But we just want to be a blessing to someone. How do I do it without stressing me out and not breaking our bank ?

1. Make a List
You need to make a list who do you want to give. This is make it easier when you see something on sale.
2. Look For Sale.
After you make list now you know what to buy. Because, you don't always saving money if you buy something and not using what you buy. No matter if it is 90 % off you just threw away your money 10 % of the amount.
3. Don't skip the season sale.
I know some of us skip Easter, Summer Sale because we are looking something for Christmas. I got lots of stuff from Summer Sale to filled my OCC box. Because I know I will give it to children who need school stuff.
4. Couponing
I do this a lot to buy the stuff to filled up my basket.  Most of the stuff I got with coupon. The price I paid it varies from free to 70% off.
5. Thrift Store/Cart Diving
I know this not everyone would have in mind.  Especially the Cart Diving part not every state have Goodwill Auction around. But if you do have one. Please try to go you will probably enjoy it when the auction over and people start to throw away their stuff. I got lots stuff from here too and still in very mint condition or new.

6. Craft
If you are a crafty person you might enjoy to do this. Last year I made two wreaths and donated it for the auction that benefiting missionaries. I made this wreath below out of the old book that I no longer need anymore. So you can make something with a little money but very meaningful.

Have a cheerful and Thanksgiving heart to give on this Christmas !!!

Happy Birthday To My Wonderful Husband

Tomorrow is my husband's birthday. It has been a great last 7 years together celebrating his birthday. God really has blessed me with a special man. We celebrated his birthday one day early, because he is working and going out of town tomorrow. I wish he could stay home.

We had a nice birthday dinner. Nothing fancy. I cooked his favorite dinner. Steak, twice baked potato and sauté spinach with garlic. For dessert, I made a strawberry cake. He loves strawberries. I tried this strawberry cake that I made from my own recipe. And he loves it. Yay...!!

We don't really give each other gifts on birthdays. Usually,  we do something special for both of us that the birthday person likes. This time we are going to see the Gaither Vocal Band . My husband had 2 choices... either the Gaither or a Football game. Sure enough he chose Gaither.

I'm so grateful to have you in my life. Thank you God for bringing him into my life. Happy Birthday babe !! I love you more and more everyday.

PS : You are the most handsome 38 year old man I ever met :) Despite your white hair

Isaiah 46:4

And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Skyline Drive in the Autumn

Are you a spontaneous person ? My husband and I are. This Saturday we didn't have any plan for the weekend. This how it started. Woke up in the morning with the sun was bright and clear. Beautiful gorgeous day ! Still didn't have any plan. We had a little devotion. I made peanut butter pancake for breakfast for a change. And my husband didn't like it. Now I know :) Watched TLC Four Houses show. Took shower. The only plan I had was go to Post Office before noon to send out stuff from my EBay store.

After done with Post Office stuff. And back in the car at parking lot with this conversation:
My husband : " Now...where we going....?
Me: " I don't know..? Mm mm...How about we go to Skyline Drive...?
My husband: What....?? That is 2 and 1/2 drive..!!! I guess we can do that..!
Me: How about we go the house and packed a couple of things such a drink, food, and stuff ( my frugal nature came :)
We did packed drinks, left over pull pork sandwich, apples. We had nice last minute picnic inside the basket. And off we go !!!

We have been wanting to drive through Skyline park. Last time we didn't want to do it because we I didn't want to pay $15 just to drive on it. But this time I was glad we did it. The view was amazing. To see the leaves changing colors and the valleys from the mountain top. Such an amazing experience to see God's creations.

I will share with you the pictures that I captured with my camera. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. We were thinking to have camping there sometime next year. For sure not this time of the year. Last Saturday it was freezing up there about 35- 40 degrees at 4 pm with bright Sun. Can you imagine how cold it is at night ??. But some people still do camping there. As a matter of fact the camp site almost fully booked. Other than cold weather we had a great time. We love our spontaneous life :)
